Sky Blue, Director
Sky Blue is the founder and director of Picante Latin
Dance and utilizes her skills as dance teacher, choreographer,
performer, costume designer and event organiser to bring
her passion for the Latino world to life. She has a
great desire to help people learn more about this rich,
inspiring culture.
Sky trained as a dancer in Australia and then traveled
to Cuba, Colombia, Spain and Brazil to study the authentic
dance styles she teaches. She has also studied design
and small business management and worked as a costume
maker and designer for theatre, film and major events
including the Sydney Olympic Games and Mardi gras and
Rio Carnival, Brazil. |
Sky formed Picante Latin Dance in 1999 and since then has
worked on events including: 1st Annual Byron Latin Fiesta
2006, Sabor Latino Byron Bay 2005, 1st and 2nd Australian
National Salsa Championships 2005 & 2006. Latin Dance
Corroboree 2005. Touring “Los Van Van” (the most
acclaimed Cuban band in the world) 2006. Darling Harbours
Annual Fiesta, October Long Weekend 2006, 2004 – 2002
and many more ….
Sky has also run Latin workshops and events in Byron Bay
for the past 5 years. The annual Byron Latin Fiesta is her
latest creation and promises to be an event not to be missed
in 2007.
