Nirico 1st learnt Bachata from a good friend Nikal who was from the United States. From there they formed Bachaotearoa, and put together the 1st Bachata team in New Zealand in October 2007.
Emily took over leadership from Nikal, and partnered Nirico in mid 2009.
Nirico and Emily have gained a reputation as NZ’s finest Bachata couple, having performed at numerous national events including the New Zealand Pacific Salsa Congress for the last 2 years. They performed at the Brisbane Salsa/Brazillian Festival in 2010. Recently they also taught and performed at the 2011 Sydney International Bachata Festival, and with their Bachata team.
Nirico & Emilys style is known as Bachafunk…and recently are having more influence of Dominican flavour. They both also have a passion for Salsa Dance, and the music.
